New Zealand rod manufacturer Maven Fishing, which entered the market less than a year ago, is set to launch two new ranges at September’s Auckland On Water Boat Show.
The company is also seeing demand from custom rod builders and is about to release special edition blanks, primarily for American and European customers.
Maven’s first rods, the Gulf Collection, appeared late last year. Designed for the popular finesse fishing technique, they feature vintage styling and a unique pinstripe pattern along their length.
Now the company will showcase its Pacific and Tasman summer series of rods for stickbaiting, mechanical jigging and sports-spin fishing, rods built on slim, light blanks for surface lure fishing.
“The business is growing extremely well,” said founder Gayleen Pratt. “Our initial range was very well received by the market. People love the look of the rods and have really embraced the vintage aesthetic of the brand.
“We are already exporting and can ship anywhere in the world. We have also had interest from custom rod builders in our Maven blanks and are about to release some special edition Maven fly blanks. Our biggest export market for these is the US and Europe.
“We are expecting wide interest in our stickbait and mechanical jigging models in particular, as these styles are hugely popular in New Zealand, Australia and Asia Pacific. We already have rods pre-sold in these ranges.”
All Maven’s custom-tailored rods are made in the company’s facility in Birkenhead, close to the Harbour Bridge in Auckland, using blanks from New Zealand custom blank designer CTS.
The Auckland show, the largest on-water boat show in New Zealand with more than 200 exhibitors, takes place September 24th to 27th.
