Thomas & Thomas (T&T) got a hugely positive response to their rods from dealers at this summer’s ICAST show and the new models have continued to get rave reviews in the hands of product editors.
Now the range – which includes Avantt fast-action freshwater rods, Exocett high-performance saltwater rods and the Contact series of speciality nymph rods – is available in fly shops worldwide.
T&T says that the strength and vibration-dampening properties of its proprietary StratoTherm Resin persuaded it to approach freshwater fly rod design in a new way, resulting in the light and responsive Avantt series.
Key characteristics include an ultra-low swing weight and lightning fast recovery, explains the Greenfield, Massachusetts, manufacturer. The rods provide precise command of the fly at close range, while longer casts reveal surprising power and line speed with tight loops and excellent line control. A low friction finish is used to enhance casting range.
The Avantt series is comprised of seven models: 8’ 6” rods in line weights 3 and 4; 9′ rods in weights 5 through 7 and 10′ rods in weights 4 and 5.
All rods feature anodised aluminum up-locking reel seat, blue wraps with white accents and grips of select Flor-grade cork. The four-piece blanks are equipped with titanium-frame ceramic stripping guides and Snake brand ECOating guides. An aluminium rod tube with cap and collar is included.
