A new consumer fishing show has been launched in France to cater for match and coarse anglers in the region.
The Pȇche Au Coup is being held from October 26 to 28 in the city of Amiens and has already attracted a host of top fishing tackle manufacturers, including Sensas, Garbolino, Rive, Milo, Matrix, Browning, Preston Innovations, Gamakatsu and Spro alongside angling federations and retailers.
Nicolas Beroud, of Info Pȇche, the French coarse fishing magazine behind the event, told Angling International that Pȇche Au Coup filled a gap in the consumer fishing show calendar. “There are already specialised events that cater for carp, predator, sea and fly fishing in France, but nothing for our sector. The reason it is being staged in Amiens is because it is close to the Belgian border and in the heartland of coarse and match fishing.”
He added that he was looking to attract up to 15,000 visitors to the show and is promoting the event through the company’s magazine, its Facebook page, regional radio and television advertisements and a major poster campaign throughout the hosting city and surrounding areas.
“We chose the end of October because many major brands will have their line-up of 2019 new products ready for launch, so visitors will be able to see these for the very first time. There will also be seminars and talks throughout the three days featuring some of the top anglers in the world.
“On the last day a competition – Star Wars – will be fished in the centre of Amiens on the Sommer River – less than 4km from the show venue – featuring 18 top name anglers who have won gold or silver medals in world or european fishing championships. ”
