The emphasis will be on new products at this weekend’s Australian Fishing Trade Association (AFTA) Show.
Last year the event showcased more new product than ever before. AFTA CEO Allan Hansard has told Angling International that there will be more of the same at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre when it opens its doors on Sunday at the start of the three-day event.
“This year the focus is on new product more than ever before,” said Hansard. “We have revamped the awards and introduced new categories. Consequently, there is a real buzz about them and they will be the highlight of the show.”
Hansard also revealed plans to take AFTA’s award winners on the road and out to consumers. He said that the organisation will be at Queensland’s biggest boat show in September, where it will be showcasing the products that took the top accolades.
“We will be at the Brisbane Boat Show taking the AFTA winners to meet the general public. It is a fantastic opportunity for consumers to see products that are making the headlines, try them out and buy them.
“It is all about raising the profile of AFTA members and showing anglers what they do and what we do as an organisation. Our members should be proud of their product. They are making market-leading stuff and we should be out there showing it off.”
