Orvis has launched an all-new collection of fishing packs and luggage for 2015.

The Safe Passage range covers a broad spectrum of products designed to be both functional and comfortable and which reflect the US brand’s considerable expertise and experience in the fly-fishing market. Here’s what’s available in the new line:

Hip Pack: Good for anglers who prefer to keep their upper body unencumbered. This larger size pack provides space for bigger, streamer-sized fly boxes in a wide opening front pocket, while the two inner compartments are loaded with pockets. Size: 10.25in by 6in by 8in. Weight: 1lb 4oz.

Rolling Vented Duffle: This newly-designed carry case on wheels will accommodate clothing as well as tackle. The drop bottom will hold 9-foot 4-piece rod cases and there are separate, vented compartments for wet waders. There are handles on both ends and the main compartment has two mesh pockets and compression straps. A support bar and reinforced bottom provide sturdiness. Overall size: 31in by 16.5in by 14in. Weight: 10.4lb.

The Sling Pack: Orvis has upgraded its most popular style of sling pack. The slightly larger size accommodates more gear and the shoulder strap is now foam padded. Other user-friendly features include an easy-to-reach water bottle, a moulded back panel to keep the body cool and a unique zinger and tool attachment system. Size: 9in by 5in by 15.75in. Weight: 1lb. A larger Guide Sling Pack is also available.

The Carry It All: Designed with input from Orvis CEO Perk Perkins, this updated bag has a padded top compartment for rods and a bottom section for other tackle. With those long walks to the airport in mind, the shoulder strap provides different carrying options. The medium size takes up to 9ft, 4-piece rods, while the larger model takes up to 11ft, 4-piece. Weights are 5lb 12oz and 6lb 8oz respectively.

Angler’s Daypack: Taking its inspiration from rock climbing gear, this backpack is for anglers who cover a lot of ground. It is compatible with the Chip Pack, which can be attached to the back while hiking or to the front when fishing. The streamlined design minimises snags. Size: 10in by 8in by 20in. Weight: 3lb.

Wader Tote: Rubber mesh side panels provide ventilation to accelerate drying time. Padded handles make for more comfortable carrying. The Tote will take a pair of breathable stocking foot waders and up to a size 15 boot. Size: 18in by 10in by 13.75in. Weight: 13oz.

Chip Pack: A versatile mid-size pack for anglers who prefer not to wear a vest, this chest and hip pack puts emphasis on storage. There are plenty of easy-to-reach pockets; and zippered compartments are gusseted to ensure tackle is easy to find.

Reel Briefcase: This fully-padded case takes up to 10 fly reels. Removable interior dividers mean it can be customised to individual needs. It also has zippered mesh pockets for smaller items. Size: 14in by 5.25in by 10in. Weight: 1lb 15oz.
