Star attraction: the super-strong Ultrapoint Kaiju.
↑ Promising surprises at the show: Mustad America’s Magnus Gunnarsson.

ICAST 2014 will host the biggest launch of new products in the history of Mustad Americas.

During the Orlando show, the best-known hook manufacturer in the world will be bringing more than 700 skus to the market with hooks covering bass, crappie, catfish, salmon and trout, and ranges for both inshore and offshore fishing. These will be exhibited alongside a new series of saltwater rigs and a complete set of Hook-Kits for the starter angler.

Mustad’s recently launched fishing line, exclusively revealed in the Angling International Lines Special in April, will also be on display in the US for the first time.

Magnus Gunnarsson, General Manager of Mustad Americas, told Angling International: “After a year of stabilisation and merging the North and South American divisions together at one base in Miami, it’s full throttle on innovation and presenting new ideas to the market.”

Gunnarsson also revealed that Mustad has spent around 18 months developing what he believes is the ‘strongest hook on the planet’. The Ultrapoint Kaiju, which will be available in sizes ranging from 2/0 to 7/0 has been designed to handle the ‘serious bad guys’ in the sea, including GT and yellowfin tuna.

The Super Slow Death is another innovation that will be revealed at ICAST. Developed in conjunction with the team at The Next Bite television programme, the hook is an extension of Mustad’s Slow Death and is set to be a ‘must have’ hook for walleye anglers fishing plastic crawlers.

The Norwegian-based hook icon is currently rebranding its best-selling Classic hook range and will be presenting its new packaging in the company’s updated booth in Florida.

Gunnarsson added: “If that wasn’t enough, we also have a few other ‘showstoppers’ that we can’t reveal yet. Visit our booth and we will also show you something that you have never seen before!”
