Mitchell is one of the most iconic names in reel manufacture, so when something new comes from the Marignier business in France it is always worth a look.
The reputation was forged in the Sixties with the legendary 300 series and things have changed a great deal since then. The 70-year-old brand is now part of the huge Pure Fishing portfolio and technology and materials have moved on apace.
But Mitchell is atuned to the trends and the latest reel to come from the company– the Avocet Match RZ4000 FD – is designed for modern-day feeder fishing. This tough little model is equipped to handle big bags from commercial fisheries and rivers alike.
The aluminium spool will accommodate 150m of 0.18mm line and one turn of the reel’s handle will retrieve 96cm of line.
It also has an innovative dual line clip system with metal clips that allow the quick and easy release of the line or setting the cast at two exact casting distances, providing options for dropping your bait in the same spot.
It also has a multi-disk front drag, instant anti-reverse and one-touch quick-folding handle. It is presented in a zip-up reel case that contains a generous three extra aluminium spools.
