Specialist magazines are tied with the internet and social media as the preferred source of information for anglers in the US, according to Southwick Associates Media Monitor (SAMM).
The quarterly survey tracks use of outdoor media, providing the industry with valuable intelligence when making decisions about marketing spend. The results for the second quarter of 2018 suggest magazines still have a vital role to play in reaching consumers.
SAMM tracks the use of outdoor media – including television, websites, social media, magazines and others – by anglers, hunters and shooters. From this year it has also monitored podcasts and top influencers with social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and Twitter.
On Facebook, Kevin VanDam is revealed as the most popular influencer among freshwater anglers.
“Consumers are bombarded daily with messages from an increasing number of media types, making the right media mix and media choices critical for companies to break through the noise,” said Nancy Bacon, Vice President of Southwick Associates.
“SAMM is the go-to source of information to help businesses understand the best way to reach their customers.”
