Latest in the Lunkerhunt series of soft plastic frog lures is the appropriately named Popping Frog.
The lure’s concave face catches water on the retrieve and with minimal movement creates popping and spitting noises designed to call predators into the vicinity.
The surface disturbance is enhanced by the kicking action of the frog’s legs which, says the Canadian manufacturer, can attract explosive strikes from bass and pike.
The Popping Frog can be worked along water edges, through grass, in pockets and in open water. The super-soft hollow body compresses under minimal pressure to expose hooks that are forged to face upwards for maximum hooking efficiency.
It comes in two sizes – a half ounce measuring 2.25 inches and a quarter ounce at 1.75 inches – each of which has 10 different colour options.
