Loop is back. The Swedish fly fishing company’s struggles have been well documented, but it now has new financial backing and there’s a renewed air of confidence amongst the team and the new owners.
Just look at this video of the Opti River single-handed rod being put through its paces in Quebec. It’s the second to be released since the news broke of the financial deal that secures the company’s long-term future, and the action suggests Loop is on the rise once again.
Swedish company Goldcup has acquired a 75% stake in Loop. Its CEO, Chris Verbinski, says: “Our decision to invest in Loop was based on Loop’s continuing ability, even under adverse business conditions, to lead by example with innovation and new product development.
“As an avid angler logging several hundred days a year on the rivers and flats, the Opti Series and the newest Cross S1 series are simply amongst the best casting performance rods I have ever used.”
The Loop Opti River is a five-piece 7-weight rod developed for salmon and sea trout fishing in flowing water. Its deep action makes it perfect for long underhand casts in tight spots, says Loop, adding: “As for overhand casting, you‘ll be amazed by the power in this rod.”
The Loop Opti River is made with Cross Weave technology for extra durability. Full specs are available here.
