Top US tackle manufacturer Lew’s has announced plans to move into a new $3.5 million headquarters next year.
The 58,000 sqft facility will be based in the company’s current home city of Springfield, Missouri and will consist of office space, graphics arts studio, customer service and repair centres and a warehouse.
Lew’s President, Gary Remensynder, told Angling International that the new building is expected to be completed by June next year and is necessary to accommodate its current operations and to continue to provide ‘excellent’ customer service based on the future growth expectation of the company.
Lew’s currently operates out of two separate buildings with a combined total space of 35,000 sqft. “Consolidating our business into one building will bring greater efficiencies compared to working out of two as we do now,” said Remensynder.
“It will also allow us to add to the necessary headcount we will need as our business continues to grow,” he added. Lew’s currently employs a workforce of 26, but will be adding at least five new jobs as a result of the expansion.
Lew’s, a legendary brand known for its quality rods, reels and accessories, moved to Springfield in 2009 following a change of ownership and has enjoyed rapid growth ever since under the leadership of CEO Lynn Reeves and Remensynder.
“Springfield is a growing city in the middle of the country and it’s home,” said Reeves. “We are close to our customers and close to our roots. When we began looking to the future of the company that’s what really counted.
A winner at this year’s ICAST in the New Product Showcase for its American Hero Baitcast Combo, Lew’s sells its tackle to a variety of independent retailers, wholesales and major sporting goods outlets across the US, including Academy Sports, Cabela’s, Dick’s Sporting Goods and Wal-Mart.
Its brand is also steadily increasing its footprint in international markets.
