One of the best known names in the Australian fishing tackle industry has died at the age of 93.
Les Wilson, a fishing tackle pioneer, founded L. Wilson and Co. in 1946 and established the company as the largest manufacturer of fishing rod components in Australia in the 1950’s and 60’s. Since then it has expanded to become a major manufacturer of fishing tackle as well as an agent for a number of international brands.
He was inducted into the Australian Fishing Trade Association (AFTA) Hall of Fame in 2013 for his lifetime contribution to the fishing tackle industry and at last year’s trade show was honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award for his 70th year in business.
