Johnson Outdoors Watercraft has signed an agreement that will see its products distributed throughout the UK and Ireland.
The US company’s Old Town Canoes & Kayaks™, Necky Kayaks and Carlisle Paddles will be sold in the region by Bainbridge International, which has been in the marine supply business since 1917.
JOW’s International Sales Manager, Ryan Flynn, told Angling International: “This is a very significant deal for us. We do our homework to ensure our partners are set up for success and we expect to see the UK market rising to hold a significant position within our organisation. Based on our mutual market analysis, we see a lot of growth potential there.
“Bainbridge International has assembled a very robust marketing plan which it will kick off this fall and then ramp up through the winter and early spring.”
Flynn added that Bainbridge was introduced to JOW by its sister company, Johnson Marine Electronics, maker of the Humminbird and Minn Kota brands. “Its heritage as the leader and key innovator in its segment of the marine industry is impressive.
“It is also a very organised, detail-driven organisation with terrific vision.”
Head of Marketing at Bainbridge International Andrew Watson is forecasting strong penetration in the paddlesport category as the popularity of canoeing and kayaking has soared throughout the UK in recent years.
“Participation in the UK has seen strong growth with Johnson Outdoors Watercraft brands capturing the minds of recreational anglers. We are very excited about the high growth in the kayak fishing segment and expect to see this niche take up a large proportion of sales in the coming years,” said Watson.
Bainbridge is attending Paddle Expo in Nuremberg from September. 17th to 19th.
