Leading tackle companies, including Daiwa, Angling Direct, Fladen, Leeda, Pure Fishing and Middy, were among industry supporters of National Fishing Month (NFM) as it kicked off its 26thyear at the recent Game Fair.
The UK’s foremost participation initiative was showcased at Ragley Hall, Warwickshire, where coaching teams from the Professional Anglers Association (PAA) and the Game Angling Instructors Association (GAIA) provided free coaching sessions for youngsters, adults and families.
In addition to the sessions, Nick Watkins (PAA) and Rob Doyle (GAIA) gave talks on the importance of getting new people into angling at the Fishing Theatre in the centre of the Fishing Village.
“The Game Fair organisers deserve congratulations for recognising the importance of recruiting new anglers and for providing such a fabulous public platform to showcase our coaching,” said Doyle.
The Angling Trades Association (ATA), the organisation behind NFM, provided everyone involved in a coaching session with a ‘Get Into Fishing’ booklet, along with other goodies.
There are still hundreds of events to attend nationwide before NFM concludes on September 2. They are listed online at www.nationalfishingmonth.com. All tackle is provided courtesy of the event’s industry sponsors.
“Once again we are indebted to the industry for their generous tackle contributions and their continued supported of this vital initiative,” said ATA Chair, Naidre Werner.
Other supporting partners include the Angling Trust, Angling Cymru and the Environment Agency.
