Industry big hitters make their debuts at EFTTEX
This year’s EFTTEX could hardly have come at a better time for some of the most influential men in the European fishing tackle industry.
John Are Lindstad of Mustad, Hans Maasbøl at Svendsen Sport, Jussi Ristimäki of Rapala and André Akkermans at D.A.M. are all attending the show as heads of their respective businesses for the first time.
Lindstad was appointed the new CEO of Mustad earlier this month and is a newcomer to the industry after 18 years with sporting goods and outdoor companies. “I go to Hungary with an open mind and will meet as many people as possible,” he said.
The appointment of Hans Maasbøl as CEO of Svendsen was announced as the replacement for Lars Svendsen little more than a week ago. He is also new to fishing, having come through the fashion, porcelain and jewellery industries and will bring fresh eyes to the show.
“I am fortunate to have Lars’ guidance in obtaining a clear insight and understanding of the trade,” he said.
Svendsen brand D.A.M. also appointed a new head this year. André Akkermans, who spent 14 years with Fox International and eight years at Sensas, has full responsibility for all operations, including sales, marketing, product development and delivering on growth targets.
His brief at the German company also includes opening up new markets, for which EFTTEX could present opportunities.
Jussi Ristimäki became President and CEO of Rapala less than a year ago and this will be his first EFFTEX as head of one of the world’s ‘big four’ tackle companies. He goes to Budapest in the midst of a revised strategy that includes capturing organic growth, improving profitability, lightening the balance sheet and improving operational performance.
