ICAST launch for new Canadian lure partnership

One of Canada’s best known lure brands will be using its ICAST debut to herald a major new acquisition.
Alberta-based Thompson-Pallister Bait Company, maker of the Len Thompson Lures brand, has announced the addition of iconic Great Lakes fishing spoon manufacturer, Northern King Lures, to its portfolio.
President Brad Pallister said: “Retailers and consumers throughout the region raved about the quality and dependability of Northern King Lures. We were passively seeking an opportunity to add another great spoon brand to our exciting line so I called them to see if they were interested in passing the torch.”
Second generation owner Beverly Cahill revealed that she took the call as her company was evaluating its future within the tackle industry. “Over the years my family has developed a brand name that stood for quality and success on the water. But recently my siblings and I were trying to figure out how we could take Northern King Lures to the next level.
“After learning more about Thompson-Pallister Bait, we were so confident in our choice. It is a fourth generation family business that focuses on manufacturing premium quality products. It has good values as a company and a great brand in Len Thompson Lures. We knew it was a great fit to continue and grow the legacy of my father, Pat Distaffen’s invention.”
Pallister added: “We understand the responsibility of ensuring this brand reaches its full potential. That is why we will be manufacturing Northern King Lures in Canada with original die sets designed by Pat, with high quality American components. There are many trolling spoons on the market, but few have the proprietary die sets that are the key to the success of the product.”
Although the new partnership will not be officially launched until ICAST in July, Pallister said that consumers may have the opportunity to purchase the lures sooner. “We want to make sure we do this right first time. We want to have the core colours that Northern King customers love, while also maintaining our core business commitments of supplying customers quickly with the highest quality possible. If I know we can fulfill these commitments earlier than anticipated, we will explore an early release.”
Established in 1929, Len Thompson Lures is a family-owned and operated manufacturer which distributes one million hand-crafted items from its production facility in Lacombe, Alberta.
