Visitors to this year’s ICAST and IFTD shows in Las Vegas will be the first to experience Simms’ 2014 product range. Most product categories see additions and updates, but most notably the Bozeman, Montana, company is showcasing new offerings in sportswear, packs, footwear and waders.
“The Spring 2014 line-up is the first to display the talents of our revamped Research, Development, Sourcing and Design Team,” says Simms President, K.C. Walsh. “In our most important categories, the team has put together an impressive selection of new products.”
In sportswear, Simms has restructured its line in four new collections that, in total, have 27 styles ranging from high-tech fishing shirts to off-water staples. The G4 Collection includes the fish-techie Taimen TriComp LS Shirt and the GT TriComp LS Shirt. The Simms Guide Series Collection features new-for-2014 shirts and shorts, including redesigned favourites, the Guide LS Shirt and the Ultralight LS Shirt, plus the new Grand Slam LS Shirt.
Simms’ expanded line of Solarflex™ offerings includes the Currents Hoody and Waypoint LS Crewneck, to accompany popular items like the Solarflex™ LS Shirt and the redesigned Surf Short. All combine at least UPF30 protection. The Off-Water Series comprises nine new styles with casual design and UPF30+ protection.
Simms says its new line of Headwaters™ Packs “resets the expectation levels for on-water storage,” with the engineered designs aiming to provide the ultimate in comfort, balance and features. Two Day Packs (Headwaters™ Full Day and Half-Day) provide enough storage for a day on the water. The Headwaters™ Guide Hip Pack, Hip Pack and Chest Pack also provide innovative and generous storage space. The Headwaters™ Large Sling Pack and Sling Pack allow quick access to more than enough gear, but stow away for unimpeded casting action.
“The Headwaters™ line of packs vaults Simms to the top of the pack world, with models for any type of angler,” says Rich Hohne, Online Marketing & PR Manager.
The Simms 2014 Footwear line sees the addition of two new wading platforms and new sole technologies. The best-in-class G4 BOA® Boot and G3 Guide™ Boot incorporate the new RiverTread™ Platform, which features a new Vibram® Idrogrip rubber outsole. For the on-the-go angler, the Vapor Boot is the lightest boot ever from Simms, thanks to the new VaporTread™ Platform and Vibram® Megagrip® rubber outsole.
Naturally, the new range includes waders, the product for which Simms is most famous. Such is the company’s reputation in this category that expectations are bound to be high – and Simms promises not to disappoint. Both the G3 Guide™ Stockingfoots and G3 Guide™ Pant have been redesigned and both incorporate a new GORE-TEX® 5-layer Pro Shell Technology that is 25% more breathable than its predecessor. In addition to these updates, Simms will launch a programme for Autumn 2013 with a new G3 Guide™ Bootfoot wader featuring two sole options.
For the angler who requires a lighter, but bomber wader, Simms announces the new Headwaters™ Convertible Stockingfoots with 3-layer GORE-TEX® Pro Shell technology. Easily convertible from chest high to waist high, the Headwaters™ Convertible is, assures Simms, destined to be a favourite in its wader collection.
Rounding out the Spring 2014 launch is the ‘Made in Montana’ Simms Plier and Nipper, along with the redesign of numerous Simms wading accessories
Visitors to ICAST will find the entire Simms 2014 range at booth number 444 at ICAST in the Las Vegas Convention Centre.
