ICAST award winner: Frabill Suit
It was déjà vu in the desert for Wisconsin company Frabill as it won the apparel category in ICAST’s New Product Showcase awards for the second year running.
The Frabill Suit received the most dealer and media votes in Las Vegas to repeat the success of the company’s FXE Stormsuit in 2010.
Already recognised as a manufacturer of landing nets, livebait care products and ice fishing gear, the successive awards have underlined Frabill’s credentials as a key player in fishing clothing.
The Frabill Suit, designed and engineered by Chris Leonard, is a companion jacket and bibs combo. Challenged with creating a garment that incorporated the trademark features of the Frabill Icesuit, but in a lighter, layered package, Leonard developed a 300 denier nylon shell that is waterproof and windproof yet breathable.
All seams are double-stitched for durability and seam-sealed to keep moisture out. The jacket incorporates large outside cargo pockets and dual internal mesh pockets, while reflective 3M Scotchlite brings a safety element.
The bibs are engineered to feature the same core components and include padding in the knees and seat. Ankle to hip leg zippers ensure that even oversized winter boots slide in and out with minimal problems.
