With ICAST 99% full, the emphasis of the organiser is now focused on filling the aisles for the world’s largest sport fishing trade show.
Kenneth Andres, Show Director of the American Sportfishing Association (ASA) owned exhibition, told Angling International that with a full house of exhibitors assured, his concentration is now turned to driving attendees to the event.
“We will be getting home the message to independent retailers that this is their show and they should be there. All our focus is now on making sure the audience befits the great number of exhibitors.
“We are very excited about this year’s show. We will have over 500,000 gross sqft of exhibit space – making it the biggest ever show.”
Andres added that during July this year ICAST will be at the ‘centre’ of the fishing trade universe. “All eyes will be on Orlando. It is the place to be for people who want to be in the fishing industry.”
Andres said that the inclusion of non-endemic first-time manufacturers, like GoPro, is a turning point for the industry. The sports camera manufacturer has taken a 1,000 sqft booth at the show. “ICAST has turned a corner.
“It demonstrates that if it is relevant to the fishing industry, companies need to come to ICAST.”
Another high-profile newcomer to the ICAST ranks is Confluence Watersports, the kayak and canoe manufacturer. Andres said: “We have been talking for three years , but now the company realises that the time is right and ICAST is the place to be.”
