It was 100 years ago that Hardy Brothers, the iconic fly fishing manufacturer based in the north east of England, introduced a new version of its floating pawl check and regulator system into its famous Perfect reels.
Now, to commemorate the Queen’s 60th year on the throne and Hardy’s own 140th anniversary, the company is incorporating what became widely known as the ‘1912 pattern check’ into a limited edition run of 250 reels.
The system was included into all Hardy Perfect reels made between late 1911 and the latter part of 1916 and was recognized as the most visual and wide ranging check system that Hardy has ever made, the originals being highly sought after on the secondary market.
The new Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Perfect will be available from Hardy dealers this month.
