Spanish fishing tackle manufacturer Grauvell, which celebrated its 50th anniversary this year, had another reason to pop the champagne corks at the weekend when two of its sponsored teams took the top prizes at the Fédération Internationale de Pȇche Sportive – Mer (FIPS-M) World Shore Angling Championships.
Grauvell Team Ireland won the gold medals in both the men’s and ladies’ events of the competition in Wexford, Ireland, and also provided the individual one-two in the men’s competition through winner Alan Mulcahy and Harry McKnee Jr. In the ladies’ section, Lisa Gormley took the silver and Anne Whitty the bronze. In all Ireland won six of the eight available medals.
The men’s team went two better than last year’s event in Portugal, beating England into second and Spain into third, while the ladies finished ahead of Croatia (second) and Netherlands (third).
