The publishers of Fishing & Travel, the new international version of the popular French magazine, Voyages de Pêche, have set its launch date and are calling on tackle brands and fishing resorts to make contact for a ‘golden opportunity’ to reach some of the biggest spending anglers on the planet.
Issue 1 of Fishing & Travel will be launched in May and the magazine will be published quarterly. Its mix of new global fishing destinations and advice on high-end tackle is designed to appeal to an international audience of cash-rich hardcore anglers – perhaps the most sought-after customers for tackle brands worldwide.
Other businesses that will benefit from exposure to the magazine’s readership, according to the publishers, include fishing lodges, tourist boards and specialist travel agencies plus online tackle retailers and local charter boat companies.
Editor Julien Lajournade said: “The launch of Fishing & Travel offers an enticing audience to fishing tackle brands in all sectors. I know from my trips abroad writing for Voyages de Pêche that there is an enormous appetite amongst travelling anglers for a global title in the English language.
“These anglers are hungry to try different styles of fishing in different locations, and they are prepared to buy plenty of new tackle – the best available – in order to get maximum enjoyment from their trips. This is an audience that is always thinking of its next trip and is willing to spend large sums on good quality tackle.
“It’s a golden opportunity for advertising tackle brands.”
In France, Voyages de Pêche has earned a powerful reputation over almost 20 years for offering advice on new destinations, and the tackle needed to fish them. Commercial Manager Valérie Mokhazni added: “We already have subscribers from across Europe and the rest of the world but there are limits to the appeal of a magazine in the French language.
“The market is clearly ready for an English version. For our advertisers it will pull in readers from US, Canada, Australia, UK, Scandinavia and of course all other territories where English is understood well as a second language. It has enormous potential.”
Angling International has declared it will support the commercial development of the new magazine by taking advertising bookings from international tackle brands wishing to reach the magazine’s readership.
Angling International Editorial Director Rob Carter said: “Fishing & Travel is the most exciting new magazine launch in our sector for years and we are delighted to be working in partnership with its publishers.
“When Valérie and Julien explained the concept to me, it was clear that there would be synergies between our two businesses. Julien and Valérie understand the fishing and travel market intimately and know exactly how to create the perfect environment for advertisers.
“Our job at Angling International is to make international tackle companies aware of this excellent new opportunity to tap into this growing niche of high spending and brand-conscious anglers.
“We are looking forward to presenting the magazine to our advertising customers around the world. Anyone interested should contact me directly to discuss promotional opportunities.”
