Gamakatsu launched three new products at ICAST this month – the Tournament Snap, R17-B Fly Hook and Barbless Mooching Rigs.
The company’s new Tournament Snap is the latest addition to the ‘G Finesse’ Series, designed by Shin Fukae. Primarily used on plugs for bass, walleye, salmon, stripers, steelhead, panhead and other species, the Tournament Snap is stainless steel and allows a full range of movement, improving the effectiveness of whatever plug is used.
Gamakatsu also says that the plug will not accidently open. It stays closed at all times because the plug eye is threaded onto the snap. Tested extensively and used under rigorous tournament conditions, the snap is available in two sizes, medium and large.
Gamakatsu’s R17-B Fly Hook is proof positive that big things can be achieved in small packages, says the company. A barbless trout hook, the R17-B features its exclusive Nano Smooth Coat™ technology which improves penetration for reliable, solid and immediate hook-ups.
The combination of a wide gap design, 3X fine wire material, the slightly curved shank and barbless retainer bend, add up to fewer fish lost. Available in sizes 12 to 24.
As barbless hook regulations expand, Gamakatsu has met the challenge with a better designed, sharper and stronger Barbless Octopus hook. Designed expressly for the application, the hook features a slightly wider gap that provides better fish-holding benefits than traditional barbed Octopus hooks.
Proven effective for a variety of species, Gamakatsu’s barbless hooks are now available in pre-tied mooching rigs.
Tied on a premium monofilament line with 6ft leaders, the Mooching Rigs are packaged individually. They come in slip tie rigs and a variety of hook combinations from 3/0, 4/0 to 5/0, 6/0 and line weights from 25lb to 40lb.
