Fans of the ‘long-rodding’ technique, as it is widely known among ice fishing enthusiasts, will be interested to learn of Frabill’s latest development – the Jiggler Long Rod.
The technical experts behind the scenes at the top US company believe they have retained the sensitivity and feel of the shorter ice rods, while introducing extra length for technique and species-specific performance.
The line actually runs through the blank, negating the effect of wind and bowing of the line and, says Frabill. This feature means there is continuous contact between the line and the blank, maximising the feel for bites.
The new rod also sports a spring bobber at its tip so that the angler can also watch for bites as well as feel them.
To make feeding the line through the blank easy, Frabill has incorporated a built-in composite reel which feeds line straight off the spool, eliminating line twist and uncontrolled lure actions. The finishing touch to keep things running smoothly is Frabill’s Sub-Zero lubrication.
Polish ice fishing expert, Jacek Gawlinski, said: “Finally, a rod that fishes like I do. That is, actively moving from hole to hole, watching the line and spring bobber for a bite. It gives me complete control in shallow water.”
