UK retail chain Fishing Republic has announced that it will open a new ‘megastore’ next month.
The store, in Ipswich, Suffolk, is one of 12 being opened by the company in East Anglia and the south of England over the coming months.
The latest step in the company’s rapid expansion strategy follows its decision to float on the Stock Exchange in the Summer of 2015.
The announcement comes on the heels of Fishing Republic’s acquisition of Tackle Warehouse in nearby Mildenhall at the end of last year. Former Tackle Warehouse owner, Steve Calder, is Fishing Republic’s Area Manager and is confident the Ipswich location will be very popular.
“Angling is the UK’s favourite participation sport and is especially popular in East Anglia and in and around Ipswich in particular,” he told the Ipswich Star newspaper. “Our stores carry more than 25,000 product lines.”
The new business is set to open at the beginning of March.
