Fishing boats and electronics will be high profile at the Sydney International Boat Show, starting this month.
Johnson Outdoors’ Old Town Canoes and Kayaks, Minn Kota and Humminbird will be among the top brands making the official Australian release of their latest products.
Visitors will be able to get a close-up look of Humminbird’s Helix 7 Fishfinder family, winner of the electronics category at this month’s ICAST show in Orlando, Florida. It comes with a seven-inch screen and all-in-one transducer that the manufacturer says produces the clearest, most precise picture yet of fish and fish-holding structure.
Kayak specialist Old Town will be introducing the Predator XL, a sit-on-top fishing kayak which, with almost 6.5 inches added width and an unprecedented 272kg capacity, is the largest model in the Predator fleet. The ace in the Predator’s pack is a console system that allows the boat to be customised to either electronics mode or recreational paddling in a matter of seconds.
Minn Kota, meanwhile, will be making its Australian launch of the Ulterra freshwater trolling motor. Described by its maker as ‘the easiest motor you have ever fished with’, the Ulterra incorporates a number of new features that can be operated remotely from the i-Pilot or i-Pilot link or a redesigned foot pedal.
These include Auto Stow/Deploy to get the motor in and out of the water automatically and a Power Trim function that adjusts the motor’s depth for changing conditions.
All the brands can be seen on the Boating Lifestyle Adventure (BLA) stand (200B) in the Sydney Exhibition Centre, Glebe Island. The show takes place between July 30th and August 3rd.
