Frank Hugelmeyer, President of the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA), this week urged the fishing and boating industries to reach out to new audiences.
Hugelmeyer was addressing the recreational boating industry for the first time at the International Boat Builders’ Exhibition and Conference Industry Breakfast in Tampa, Florida.
Stressing the importance of reaching a new audience looking for a fresh experience, he told delegates that eight out of 10 outdoor participants want to try a new activity.
“This means the recreational boating and fishing industries are in a position to attract more campers and hikers. We have room to grow,” he said.
Hugelmeyer, who succeeds Thom Dammrich at the NMMA, is a former President of the RV Industry Association and has been instrumental in bringing together the marine and RV industries.
“We need to think far beyond when consumers are on the water,” he said.
