Issues impacting on recreational fishing will be addressed by fisheries expert Chris Oliver at next week’s American Sportfishing Association (ASA) Summit in Clearwater Beach, Florida.
Oliver, who took up his role as Assistant Administrator of the NOAA’s National Marine Fisheries Service in June this year, is the guest speaker at Wednesday’s lunch, to which all Summit attendees are invited.
Oliver joined the North Pacific Fishery Management Council in 1990, where he was a fisheries biologist, Deputy Director and, most recently, Executive Director.
During his tenure, he spearheaded initiatives including the development of limited access privilege programmes, fishery cooperatives and catch share programmes. He also led the Council’s legislative and international issues.
He is an avid fisherman and holds a BBA in business management and a master’s degree in fisheries science. Keynote speakers at the Summit include Dustin Garis, who will focus on how brands can drive engagement among consumers and employees, and Tim Sanders, who will speak on leadership development, sales strategy and people performance.
The third keynote speaker is Nathan Rigby, Head of Sales and Marketing at One Click Retail, who will share his eCommerce expertise and his experience in building sales and marketing initiatives for major retailers including Wal-Mart.
Angling International magazine will be at the Summit, which is at the Opal Sands Resort from October 10th to 14th.
