Pro-angler Charles Sim, a first-time competitor in this year’s GEICO Bassmaster Classic presented by GoPro, has partnered with Hookset.com for the 2016 tournament season.
The Ottawa, Canada online tackle company announced the partnership on the eve of bass fishing’s world championships on Grand Lake in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Sim has the double distinction of being the first Bassmaster Classic qualifier from the Ontario B.A.S.S. Nation and only the second Canadian qualifier in the 45-year history of the event.
“I’m super excited to partner with Hookset.com for the Classic and the 2016 season,” said Sim, whose support will include a group that has chartered a bus for the 23-hour drive to Tulsa.
“The team at Hookset is committed to supporting anglers from the grassroots level to the pros. It has created an online tackle marketplace that brings together anglers searching for a custom bait that the fish may not have seen before with the tackle makers who can showcase their products and gear.”
The first Canadian to fish the Classic was Hank Gibson in 1990.
