After a fact-finding mission last year, French lure manufacturer Fiiish is returning to ICAST for the second time.
The company made its debut at the world’s biggest fishing trade show in Orlando where its aim was to learn about the US market and how it operates.
Fiiish Founder Frédéric Orlach said: “We did not plan to introduce our products onto the market after the show, but we got a great reaction from visitors to our booth and we made a lot of good contacts.
“People liked our product, the design and the way it is rigged. Our packaging made an impact too.
“We also opened up dialogue with distributors in new countries which was a bonus.
“ICAST was really interesting for us because of its international dimension. It makes you feel at the centre of the fishing world. The Americans are also very enthusiastic and passionate about fishing – it is their way of life. The people we met were extremely professional and structured, something we liked very much.”
Orlach added that Fiiish was looking to have an established presence in the US market within the next two years. “However, we need to develop a strategy that includes a choice of partner for distribution, a marketing plan and a reliable internal supply chain. The US is a great market, but it doesn’t countenance bad service.
“It is much bigger than any of our other markets and the importance of delivery cannot be understated. If we cannot supply all the products it wants then demand for our brand will decline.”
At ICAST this year the focus will be more on its product and Fiiish will be demonstrating the unique swimming qualities of its Black Minnow and Crazy Sand Eel in a pool at its booth. It will also be introducing its new range of accessories – the Perfect Link fishing snaps and ATTRACTANT, a spreadable bait concentrate.
