Jim Burton: Launch of of baits from Old Ghost in the UK postponed until March 2013.

Bait manufacturing giant Old Ghost has postponed the launch date of its products into the UK.

The Chinese company, whose baits have won awards at the last two EFTTEX shows, had initially planned to introduce its products from January 1st, 2013.

But it has now announced that the launch date has been put back to early March.

However, Old Ghost’s UK Senior Consultant, Jim Burton, insists that the delay will benefit both UK dealers and anglers.

“Old Ghost President Mr Yi Zhe is very thorough and meticulous about everything he does,” explained Jim. “That’s one of the reasons his company is as successful as it is.

“He has visited the UK and taken a close look at the waters and the fishing styles here and as a result has decided that he wants to refine some of the baits he plans to introduce.

“He has recognised that fishing is different here to China and mainland Europe and that there is a different approach. He only wants to bring baits to the market that fish are going to respond to, so he is producing baits very specifically for the UK. He is now back in China and is currently deciding on the final ingredients.

“You can only go so far with promotion. In the end the baits need to work if they are to be successful. You have to know what you are doing and Mr Yi does.”

Burton revealed that the company is negotiating premises for distribution and that baits would be distributed directly to dealers and bigger outlets from March 1st. Old Ghost has been registered as a UK company with Companies House.

The UK will be the springboard for Old Ghost’s campaign to make its products available right across Europe.

Burton also hinted at the imminent signing of a ‘big name’ angler to endorse the Old Ghost products. “The deal has not been done so I cannot say anything right now,” he told Angling International. “But if I had the choice of any angler in Europe to endorse our baits then this would be the man.”

Bait ranges coming into the UK in March will include X-Attractant Groundbaits, Natural Double-Layered Boilies (Best New Product Award winner at EFTTEX 2012), New Mini Match Boilies, Freshkeeping Hookbait Sausage (Best New Product Award winner at EFTTEX 2011), Match Hookbait Pastes, Magic Pastes, EPS (Expander Pellet System) with Liquid Sachet, Natural Attractants, Liquid Natural Attractants, Spray Additives and Powder Additives.
