Best New Monofilament
Shimano, Ockert, Snowbee, FirstDart and Zebco Europe were among the contenders fighting it out for the Best New Monofilament Line Award at EFTTEX in Vienna. The manufacturers all had high hopes for their new products, which they debuted at the Austrian showpiece.
Ockert showed off its Climax Barsch, which the German maker claims has a very low memory and casts ‘further’ than any other product. It was up against Singapore-based OEM supplier FirstDart, which introduced the Super Power Knot.
UK manufacturer Snowbee was in the mix with the XS Stealth Copolymer Nylon-Camo, an extension to the company’s XS Copolymer range, while Shimano showed off its Exage – a Japanese mono with high resistance to abrasion, low visibility and ‘very good’ knot strength.
Another debutant was the eventual winner Quantum Exofil (pictured) from Zebco Europe. The company describes it as a high tech monofilament with a nano fluorocarbon surface coating that creates an ‘ultra’ smooth surface.
The Exage was runner-up.
