Best New Footwear
We all want to keep anglers fishing for longer. Comfortable, warm anglers stay on the water, get better results… and come back to fish another day. So it follows that no product sector deserves more attention than footwear, which is the key to a comfortable day’s fishing.
Fortunately, some of the biggest brands in the industry are investing heavily in new materials and designs to push back the boundaries of footwear development. Leading the way are Rapala, which this year introduced its ultra-light Pro Wear Hybrid Waders, and Redington, which says it has incorporated ‘the ultimate waterproof breathable material’ in its Super Dry Fly Wader. Joining the party was Extreme Fishing, which has ventured into the sector in its most meaningful way yet, plus Portuguese specialist Dom Mira and Patagonia, which debuted a women-only river wader in Vienna.
And it was Patagonia (pictured) – exhibited by distributor Traun River – that picked up the award ahead of Extreme Fishing and Redington.
