EFTTA Board issues ‘industry alert’

The European Fishing Tackle Trade Association (EFTTA) has issued an ‘industry alert’ about the dangers facing recreational fishing in Europe.

The association’s Board of Directors issued a formal notice to ensure companies within the trade were aware that recreational fishing in Europe is facing numerous threats that have the potential to negatively affect – or even destroy – angling in the near future.

In a series of video conferences, various directors on the EFTTA Board have given extensive explanations on the current dangers that could have a severe impact on all businesses in and related to the sector.

EFTTA Board member, Ross Honey (pictured) said: “The only way to save recreational angling for future generations is by teaming up and defending it with one voice at the institutions of the European Union.

“That is what EFTTA has been doing for over 40 years. Due to today’s threats, with potential restrictions coming from various sides – whether ecological or political –  this challenging task is becoming increasingly demanding on all our resources.

“Thanks to the video conference sessions explaining EFTTA’s lobby work in Brussels, more and more companies in the sector are realising the significance of becoming a member of EFTTA to support the joint efforts in protecting the future of recreational angling in Europe.”
