The return of Terry Hearn to specimen brand E-S-P and the recent launch of the brand’s first range of hookbaits have generated considerable interest among Europe’s carp fishing fraternity.
E-S-P has been producing terminal tackle for a number of years so it make sense to develop baits to complement its rigs. In the words of consultant Dave Ellyatt, the brand’s new bespoke pop ups signal ‘an exciting change of direction for E-S-P’.
The pop ups contain a high proportion of micro-spheres to provide exceptional buoyancy. Based on an egg albumen mix that contains milk proteins and binding ingredients to create a tight, hard bait, they are also water resistant, even when pierced by the hook.
The result is a pop up that retains its size and buoyancy and can be fished for long periods without the fear of it absorbing water and swelling. Attractants are added at the mixing stage as well as being sprayed onto the surface of the bait after it has been cooked and dried, ensuring their release over a long spells.
The range consists of 10 products in five colours and flavours in two sizes, 12mm and 15mm. There is a choice of Salmon Smokie (pink), Salt ‘n’ Pepper Squid (white), Tutti Twist (orange), Eucalyptus Cream (yellow) and Thai Curry (green).
The baits are packaged in distinctive clear pots, with 50 to a pot of the 12mm sizes and 40 to a pot of the 15mm sizes.
