Douglas Outdoors had a strong presence on the show floor of the Orange County Convention Center after what National Sales Manager Dave McKenna described as ‘a very good year’.
The Phoenix, New York, company had booths at both the IFTD and ICAST shows and reported lots of interest in the new products it has been working on.
Douglas introduced its new Sky series of rods, a premium collection designed by the highly regarded Fred Contaoi. The company was also showing its made-in-the-USA Argus reels.
“The Sky rods have made a very big impact in the industry in a short period of time and the Argus reels have also done very well for us,” McKenna told Angling International.
“We are still a young company, but our products have made significant progress since the last ICAST as dealers and anglers get to know about their quality and performance.”
Douglas also produces the DXF, DHF, LRS and Upstream collections in its comprehensive fly rod range, along with Argus click-check fly reels and Nexus sealed-disc fly reels.
In addition to fly products, it manufactures DXS spinning rods, DXC casting rods and LRS spinning and casting rods, which could be found in the ICAST part of the show.
Douglas Outdoors was launched in May 2014 by CEO David Barclay. The Barclays have a long history in fishing and conservation as the owners of Pulaski NY’s legendary Douglaston Salmon Run.
