Dick’s Sporting Goods, one of the biggest retailers of fishing tackle in the US, is anticipated to post sales in the region of $2.23 billion for the second quarter of this year.
According to investment resource Zacks, estimates from seven analysts suggest the big box chain will eclipse the $2.16 billion sales posted for the same period last year.
Looking further ahead, analysts following the Pennsylvania-based business expect it to report full year sales of $8.67 billion for the current year. Results for the second quarter will be announce on August 29th.
The Fortune 500 company, which includes Field & Stream among its subsidiaries, announced that it would no longer sell assault-style firearms following the Parkland school shooting that killed 17 earlier this year. CEO Edward Stack said the decision “would not be positive from a sales standpoint.”
Although the main business of Dick’s is in other sporting goods, the company – with approaching 700 stores – is among the biggest suppliers of fishing tackle after Bass Pro/Cabela’s.
