French sporting goods retailer Decathlon – owner of the Caperlan fishing brand – has posted its second highest growth in sales for a decade.
At Decathlon France, the group reported an increase in net sales during 2014 of 4.33% and like-for-like same store growth of 3.52%. The result was attributed to the addition of three new outlets, retail expansions and a 6.81% increase in in-store fulfillment of online orders at its 262 outlets.
The retailer also reported that it had dropped prices on 769 items by at least 10% during the year and is offering further discounts in 2015 ‘to make sports accessible to more people’.
Decathlon.fr is ranked the 15th most visited e-commerce site in France and the company hopes to drive more online traffic this year when it rolls out touch screens that consumers can use to access complete brand catalogues at all its stores.
