Quick is back! That was the message from German tackle company DAM at today’s EFTTEX show in Amsterdam.
Germany oldest spinning reel was officially relaunched at a press conference in the RAI Exhibition Centre, where its Head of Product Development, Robert Valkeneer, explained the thinking behind the new range and how DAM is ‘ready to take market share back’. He also revealed the flagship model in the series, the Quick 7, which has been entered in to EFTTEX Best New Product Awards.
DAM believes the €140-€180 high-end reel is the best in its category, pointing to a list of features that includes a drag system with washers that can be reversed when worn, and S-Curve oscillation – an original DAM innovation. Other highlights include a wave spring drag that ensures pressure is equally distributed, a spool mark to show optimum line capacity, a rubber maintenance hatch for greasing the gears and a Winn Grip handle knob.
“We are really proud of the end result,” said Valkeneer. “The most important thing is that it is all our design and it has been made using our own tooling.”
Valkeneer was recruited a year ago with the brief to rebuild the Quick brand image, create a position in the market and become a preferred partner for dealers.
“It is important for us to get across the message that we are embarking on a new strategy with Quick reels,” said DAM’s new Managing Director, Michael Unger, who hosted the press conference. “We have come up with a whole new concept for the range. Quick is back.”
