The new EXIST LT, the flagship model in the Daiwa spinning reel range, has won a top design award in Japan.
It has been named as one of the top products in the leisure and outdoor goods section of the prestigious 2018 Good Design Awards, which draws thousands of entries from both Japan and across the world. The announcement was made during last month’s Good Design Exhibition in Tokyo.
Offering an array of features that have advanced the EXIST, the judges appreciated the toughness and light weight of the reel which has been achieved by innovative technology that Daiwa has perfected through its 60 years in the fishing tackle business.
The latest EXIST was designed by Takashi Kondo and won the fixed spool reel category in the Best New Product Awards at this year’s EFTTEX trade show in Amsterdam.
A spokesman for Daiwa said: “Acknowledgement in the Good Design Awards is a very high accolade in Japan and it is an especially fitting way for us to conclude our 60th anniversary year.
“Over the decades we have pushed the boundaries of technology and design to continually evolve the fishing experience through our products.
“The LT concept was developed through a process of the most refined level of design and pioneering use of materials. Monocoque achieves a reduced body size, but a larger gear. The solid metal spool defies the senses when it is held in the hand and the smoothness of rotation almost startles when the handle is wound.
“EXIST LT is the epitome of all that is Daiwa.”
