Chinese fishing rod brand Weihai Crony picked up its fifth award in seven appearances at the Beijing showpiece.
The company was named as winner of the Lure/Fly Rod category in the China Fish Best New Product Awards for its three-piece Master Collection travel rod. The company’s General Manager, Thomas Liu, said winning another prize meant a great deal to the company.
“It helps us in our goal to create a brand, instilling faith in our distributors around the world – underlining our ability to deliver quality products. It also spurs us on to be even more innovative.
“Five years ago we embarked on a 20-year plan to develop Crony across the world and we are already well established in South East Asia, Australia and China. We are also developing the European sector, but it is growing more slowly than expected so we are looking to grow our domestic market which is growing very fast.”
Liu added that the new rod has been designed to fill the increasing demand from anglers who want to combine fishing with their commitments when traveling abroad. “People who travel regularly do not want to miss out on fishing and this is the perfect rod to ensure they do not.”
Equipped with American Tackle guides for easy casting, the rod boasts a wooden reel seat for comfort and warmth in cold weather alongside a durable wooden handle. Packaged in a smart case, the lightweight product has enough power to tackle hard-fighting bass up to 10lb.
