Top Texas professional angler, Keith Combs, one of the favourites for this weekend’s Bassmaster Classic, has added Shimano rods to his tackle arsenal prior to the big event on Lake Conroe.
A long-time endorser of the Japanese tackle giant’s fishing reels, Combs will now also be filling the lockers in his Ranger bass boat with Zodias and the new Expride rods.
“Combs has been a rock-solid performer on the professional bass fishing scene for years,” said Shimano Marketing Manager Kurt Mazurek. “With an Elite Series victory, two Toyota Texas Bass Classic titles and the largest single-day weight record in FLW history, he’s regarded as an absolute force on Texan waters. But his record also shows he’s a genuine threat wherever bass swim.”
During the Bassmaster Classic Combs will be relying on his collection of Curado 200HG reels matched with the Zodias 172MH-G cranking rods for shallow and mid-depth cranking. He said that he also has confidence flipping with Shimano’s new Expride 171H rod with its Metanium MGL and Chronarch MGL reels.
“Having the opportunity to use Shimano rods and reels – knowing I am fishing with the finest tackle on the market – just adds to my confidence. I can’t wait to show the bass fishing market all the great new tackle Shimano is making.”
Shimano will be officially introducing its new Chronarch MGL baitcasting reels and Expride bass rods at the Bassmaster Classic Expo.
