Pure Fishing’s Chub is promising an exciting string of product launches for 2015.
One of the first major British carp brands, Chub has come a long way since 1994 when it was founded by an engineering company in Essex. The initial Chub product, the Trent Chair, was the first on the market to feature a locking leg system that locked open and closed. The bedchairs also had a unique pull-pin metal reclining system at a time when all chairs and bedchairs were 100% UK manufactured.
In 2005, with over 200 items in the range and specialist carp anglers and product developers on board, Chub Leisure was bought by Hardy & Greys, which also acquired a large number of patents and registered designs. Joining up with Hardy & Greys and relocating to its current home in Alnwick, Northumberland, enabled Chub to improve and expand its product ranges even further, particularly in its rods portfolio where it was able to take advantage of the technologies, expertise and testing facilities available. A result of this was the launch of the Outkast rod range, which offers previously unseen performance and a first-to-the-market lifetime warranty available at a sub £100 price point.
In 2013 the Hardy & Greys group was acquired by Pure Fishing and this has resulted in further product development and a string of exciting new launches coming to market in 2015. Topping this product list will be the latest Outkast – a completely new line-up of 14 rods, including the popular Small Water rods and a new 10’ 3lb compact model that is perfect for boat anglers. Smart black cosmetics and a raw carbon anti-scratch finish mean that these rods look as good as they perform.
In the bivvy category, Chub will be introducing the Vizor Lite Bivvy and the Vizor Lite Overwrap to its top-of-the-range offering. With a completely new pole arrangement, the Vizor Lite offers maximum space inside, but keeps the overall footprint of the bivvy small.
More internal headroom and flat back profiles provide an ideal space for even the largest of bedchairs. An upgrade to the
adjustable Backdraft™ Ventilation System now allows the angler to access the vent from the inside of the bivvy and also keeps
the vent open even in the wettest weather. The Vizor Lite Overwrap offers the same ventilation system and extra front porch space, which helps to reduce condensation.
In the luggage department, Chub will be offering the brand new Vantage Long Session and Short Session Food Bags – perfect for
organising session food and cooking kits. They both feature a unique removable pouch designed for anglers to keep their
‘essential’ brew kit so they can grab it and go for short sessions. The Long Session Bag also has a removable, insulated pouch
and two side pouches that can be joined together to create a useful 24-hour micro-food bag.
Business Brand Manager Ralph Dijk says: “The future looks bright for Chub. We have a wealth of resources available
to ensure the ongoing success of the brand – from 2D and 3D design capability, product engineering specialists and a
massively experienced and respected team of consultants.
“Every product we produce, from rod to rig wallet, is thought through and developed by people who spend hundreds of hours on the bank. Moving forward, we will continue to provide innovative fishing tackle that allows anglers to focus on enjoying the outdoors and – most importantly – catching carp.”
