Korkers, the manufacturer of wading boots for fly fishing, has appointed Brian Chaney as CEO. Changes at the top of the company also see Sean Beers, chief executive for the past five years, take on the role of Strategic Advisor.
Beers and Chaney are credited with reviving the 55-year-old brand and transforming the Portland, Oregon business into a strong player in the fly fishing wading boot category.
“I was originally brought on board to align the company for significant growth while guiding Brian to become an effective leader,” said Beers, a former Columbia Sportswear executive. “Brian has been instrumental in driving the company’s success and is well positioned to take on the leadership role.”
Beers added that Korkers has experienced significant top line growth in the past five years, during which time it has reinvented its OmniTrax Interchangeable Sole System, extended the brand into the cold weather footwear market and implemented a strategic sales approach.
Chaney, who was President and Director of Sales, said that he anticipated a seamless transition based on a strong continuing relationship with Beers, adding: “The intent is to continue driving the current strategic plan, which includes a focus on further developing the wading boot and cold weather footwear categories.”
