Business opportunities limitless for dealers at ICAST

Darrin Heim, co-owner of award-winning American Tackle, says ICAST offers a treasure chest of business opportunities to dealers.

A treasure chest of new business opportunities awaits dealers visiting ICAST every year.

And it is that enticing prospect that should ensure attending the largest fishing tackle trade show in the world is a priority for all forward-thinking fishing tackle retailers across the whole of the U.S.A., according to Darrin Heim, co-owner of the award-winning American Tackle Company.

He told Angling International: “You can walk onto any booth at the show and you just do not know where it is going to lead to. There is potential around every corner.

“From our point of view, we need to see more retailers. It’s hard to  believe that if you are part of the industry that you wouldn’t attend the biggest show on the planet. The cost and inconvenience of being away from the shop should pale into insignificance when you consider the advantages ICAST offers.

“It is a once a year chance to meet new people, see the latest gear on display and rub shoulders with major names in the industry. I have visited ICAST when it was staged in Las Vegas and other East Coast locations and can’t believe those who attended when it was held there do not come to Orlando – the biggest fishing destination in the world.

“The benefits of attending the show are just as relevant in Florida – even more so if your competition doesn’t attend. There are new vendors with whom to connect and great new products that you can steal a march on.

“You do not know what is out there – and can help your business – unless you hit the floor. There are new companies at the show every year that could provide you with a whole new revenue stream.”

Heim understands that it is very easy to lose sight of the bigger picture. He explains,  “It’s human nature to concentrate on the daily running of a business without looking from side to side – it is the way most businesses are.

“It is concentrating on what is happening and the customer in your shop and not thinking about the customer that just went by. By breaking that mindset and attending ICAST, you could transform your business.”
