One of the world’s best known and most successful match fishermen has celebrated a 30-year association with Browning and been hailed for his part in the company’s success.
English angler Bob Nudd, a four-time individual world champion and member of the winning team on seven occasions, was first signed up in 1985 to represent the brand and has played an important role in product development for the Zebco Europe-owned brand.
Zebco Europe Operations Director Frerk Petersen said: “With a brief two-year hiatus, Bob has been a loyal brand ambassador, who is appreciated and respected across all national borders, for 30 years. Browning would probably never have become so popular without Bob Nudd. The brand and the man are inextricably linked.”
To mark his 30 years of service, the company presented him with a special edition of Browning’s very latest pole, a custom-made version of its Z16L, set to be launched in March.
Nudd, who was awarded the MBE honour in the UK in 1996, continues to represent Browning at fishing exhibitions and events throughout Europe.
He said: “It continues to fascinate me how high-end materials can always be developed further. I had the good fortune of always having a first-class sponsor at my side in Browning. When I look at the current range, particularly the poles and the sensational Sphere feeder rods, I am both happy and proud that I can use these products.”
Nudd was signed for Browning by the late Terry Freeman, who introduced the brand to England as an agent. The company was his original sponsor and he remembers: “In the first year, all I received was a T-shirt.”
