One of North America’s biggest suppliers of fishing tackle has announced the launch of a conservation initiative that will support the fight to protect the outdoors and the outdoor sporting goods industry as well as encouraging participation in related activities.
Big Rock Sports has launched the Big Rock Sports Conservation Foundation, a non-profit operation that will combine its resources with those of its customers, employees and vendor partners to achieve its goals.
“Over the years, distributors, retailers, manufacturers and consumers have independently supported various advocacy efforts,” it says. “By creating the Conservation Foundation we can enable these groups to work together and collectively make a difference.”
The foundation will be managed by an independent board that will ensure that contributions go to causes that make the biggest impact, such as events that encourage participation in fishing and hunting, community events for youths, and organisations that serve the outdoor industry.
Big Rock adds that it is making it easy for its customers to donate to the Conservation Foundation by allowing them to round up their orders to the nearest dollar or add a fixed amount to their order at the time of check-out.
“I think the Big Rock Sports Conservation Foundation will be exciting for everyone in this industry,” said Dave Kranz, owner of Dave’s Bait, Tackle and Taxidermy, in Crystal Lake, IL. “You should embrace anything that helps get more people involved and creates opportunities for them to get out there and go fishing and hunting. I definitely commend Big Rock Sports for doing this. I hope all retailers across the country participate and are willing to get involved with it and try to help our industry.”
