Bait ’n’ Go promises to change the way retailers sell to anglers

An Australian company says it is changing the way people fish by making live bait and fishing products available around the clock.
Bait ‘n’ Go Australia joined forces with Big Rock Sports and the Wittern Group in the US to purpose-build a vending machine especially for the Australian climate.
The company plans to roll out more than 1,000 machines over the next three years, selling frozen and live bait 24/7.
“Our aim is to fill the ‘convenience’ void in fishing,” says Bait ‘n’ Go. “Our research of the bait industry revealed there is a major lack of quality bait available for early morning and late night recreational fishers.
“So we decided to make quality bait and tackle available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. Our 24/7 vending machines mean anglers can fish whenever they want to without the worry of finding quality bait.
“We want to freshen up the Australian recreational fishing industry using cutting-edge technology, design and manufacturing. These machines are made exclusively for Bait ‘n’ Go and represent a first for the Australian market.
“The response has been remarkable. We are fielding lots of enquiries from tackle shops and service stations interested in purchasing a machine. It is revolutionising the way Australians fish.”
The YS22 vending machine is, says the company, the world’s first vending machine with dual zone temperature ranges for both live and frozen bait. The 24-hour ‘mini store’ potentially allows businesses to never miss a sale, opening up supplemental income and providing a competitive edge.
Bait ‘n’ Go’s strategy also involves the addition of complementary ‘bolt on’ products to fast track new revenue streams, including Tackle Runnerz, a tackle machine exclusive to Bait ‘n’ Go containing the latest fishing tackle.
The company is environmentally focused and interested in reducing the impact of live bait collecting. A percentage of the company’s sales will be channeled back to the environment and the community. Additionally, all packaging is recyclable, zip-locked and re-sealable.
Locations for vending machines include tackle shops, boat ramps, service stations and supermarkets. The potential for sites is unlimited, says Bait ‘n’ Go. The company is also offering customers a revenue share option based on advertising revenue from LCD advertising screens built into the tackle box vending machines. Anglers can buy products using coins, notes or credit and debit cards.
