Fly manufacturer Fulling Mill has been appointed exclusive distributor for the award-winning Tacky Fly Box for the whole of Europe.
The Tacky Fly Box, designed by American fishing entrepreneurs, Tim Jenkins and Ki Aston, won the International Fishing Tackle Dealer (IFTD) Best of Show award in Orlando last July.
“The box has taken the US by storm. Now we look forward to building a significant business with Fulling Mill throughout Europe,” said Jenkins. “Fulling Mill makes some of the best flies in the world so our association with them makes absolute sense.”
Will Landale, Managing Director of UK-based Fulling Mill, said there was a gap in the market for the box. “Teaming up with Tacky fits our strategy of identifying innovative, quality products that complement our stable of world class brands,” he added.
The Tacky Fly Box’s key competitive advantage is said to be a patent-pending silicone rubber insert that has little memory and holds flies securely over a longer than usual time frame.
The product has been acclaimed by the consumer press, being awarded the Editor’s Choice award by both Fly Fusion and Fly Tyer magazines. It was also voted Best New Fly Gear by Outdoor Canada magazine. More sizes and designs are expected in 2015.
• Fulling Mill has also just launched its 2015 catalogue. Featuring a fresh logo and branding, the 106-page publication contains more than 2,500 fly patterns, along with a number of new sections.
“Fulling Mill is growing and to support this we have refreshed our branding and added a range of exciting new products to our portfolio,” said Landale. “We are particularly excited with our new salmon flies, designed by Paddy Bonner, our expanding collection of fly tying materials and hooks and our new offering of sea rigs.”
