The American Sportfishing Association (ASA) has created a new position aimed at recruiting more retailers to the organisation.
The new role of Member Services Manager is being filled by Rob Keith and will focus on educating prospective members about the ASA, the benefits of membership, best practices on recruiting and retaining anglers and providing information and programmes to support their business.
He will also be reaching out to the retail sector to understand the issues – business and legislative – that are affecting their operations.
“Finding the right candidate for the role was not easy,” said Blake Swango, Vice President for Trade Show and Membership Services at the ASA. “It required someone with knowledge of and experience in the recreational fishing retail sector. We also needed someone who understands federal and state legislative processes as well as someone with a passion for fishing. Rob has them all.”
Keith has joined the ASA from the Wilderness Society, where for the last three years he served on the Government Relations staff working on public land issues.
“This new position has the opportunities and challenges I am seeking,” said Keith. “I look forward to working with our retail members and growing the membership to better serve the wider fishing community.”
